Kathryn & Stephen’s Wedding – 11th April 2009

Kathryn and Stephen chose to get married on Easter Saturday as this was a very significant day for Kathryn. Her grandmother was married on 11th April, so Kathryn thought it would be special to continue this date on.
We started with Stephen and the boys at their house, the rain had just started to drizzle but that didnt stop the boys from have a good old laugh at each other outside. When we had finished with the boys it was time to hit the bruce highway and head up to Maleny. Now most people know that I am not the biggest fan of the bruce highway and today was no exception with bumper to bumper traffic due to the easter break, roadworks and the pouring rain. Not a good combination at the best of times!! But we made it there safe and sound to find Kathryn and the girls buzzing about upstairs getting ready.
Kathryn was a little nervous but before we knew it she was relaxing into the day watching the rain out the window. Kathryn didnt let the rain put a dampner on the day. Everything still went to plan.
Once the ceremony and family photos were over, the weather had been kind enough to stop raining for a little bit to allow us to go outside for some beautiful scenery photos.

We hope you had a lovely honeymoon guys and we will see you soon!

Gabrielle & Alan’s Wedding – 18th April 2009

Gabrielle & Alan had been planning their wedding for quite a while. Gabby and her mother had done alot of the planning together and you could see during the day that their hard work had paid off.
We started off with Alan and the boys at his place on the northside. We headed out into the beautiful sunshine and next door to the huge empty paddock for some fun and games. By this stage the boys were pumped and ready for the rest of the day.
We then headed over to Gabbys and the huge clan of people all in the appartment suite at the Macarthur Chambers in the City. Gabby was a little nervous but before she new it her and the bridesmaids were laughing and relaxed. We headed out into queen st for some photos as there were road closures due to the filming of an Allens lolly advert. You may see the massive toy doll in the background of one of the photos.
We then moved onto the ceremony at Red Hill, all went well. After some family photos we moved onto the Botanical Gardens for some more photos, before heading back to the reception.

Gabby told me that her and Alan met in the cutest way. Gabby accidentally spilled her drink on Alan at McDonalds and the rest is history. I love hearing stories how my couples have met, everyone has their own little story to tell. These guys look so happy together.

Thanks guys for letting us be a part of your day.

I love my brides!!

I had to share this beautiful letter that I received from a bride whose wedding I photographed earlier this month. It is always wonderful to know that the work we do is appreciated. I love working with people who really value their wedding photography and Sky is definately one of those people.

Thank you Sky, your letter was truely appreciated.

Hi Ben & Justine

The images look soooooo good. I love the editing…my skin looks awesome ha! No, in all seriousness you guys are the bomb!! I cannot thank you enough.

I actually cancelled our wedding 4 years ago, because i was so unhappy with the way i looked (vanity much, lol) Even though ive lost heaps of weight, i am still very self concious, but Ben made me feel so comfortable and safe on the day, that i was able to relax and even have fun with it (heaps of fun actually, Ben cracks me up)

I absolutly LOVE all of the images, i have NEVER had a photo i like of myself, but i love these, you are amazing at what you do.

I gotta say i am a little bummed that we’re almost done. I think the world of you both, you both have such beautiful personalities, it draws people to you. Im so very glad i got the chance to meet you both and that i was fortunate enough to experience the magic that you create.

Im sure you hear this alot, but you should both be very proud of the amazing business you have created together. I really take my hat off to you guys, obviously you have the talent, but it takes so much time, effort, money, stress etc.. to make your own business work, especially with two young kids to care for also. I think you guys have done a terrific job!

xox

Kind Regards

Victoria and Sean’s Wedding – 4th April 2009

It is always fun when you get to photograph friends weddings,  in one of my past lives I was working in a call centre for a bank and my boss Karen always had a soft spot for me and has seen me grow in my photography right from when I first picked up a camera.  Of course when her son got engaged, she was eager for them to come and see me about capturing the beautiful couple on their wedding day.

I guess knowing who every one is made the day pretty easy and cruisey.    Vicky had an amazing gold dress that I just loved,  very different but very effective.  The ceremony and reception was held at the Brisbane Golf Club who were very hospitable,  I just love nice reception venues.

I also had Tracey, one of our newest photographers join me for the day and she also captured some great images.  Go Tracey!! Some of the more avid blog readers will remember tracey from a trash the dress shoot that I did in Jan 08.

Congratulations Sean and Vicki,  you looked amazing.

Sky and Brad’s wedding 3rd April 2009

How lucky am I to have such amazing brides and grooms that come to our studio.  Sky and Brad were no exception and I have been looking forward to this wedding ever since their engagement shoot.Sky and Brad have lost an amazing 20kg and 11kg respectively over the few months prior to their wedding and should be an inspiration to any bride,  Sky had to get her dress taken in 3 times because of the weight that she lost and they both looked like a million dollars.   It is so cute that they both had a bet to see who could loose the most weight,  If Brad won Sky had to mow the lawn in her underwear and if Brad won well he had to paint the kids cubby house.   I don’t know about you but I think Sky had some good motivation to get the weight off.  Tough luck Brad but you both look “so hot right now” as Paris Hilton would say.

The ceremony and reception took place at the Glen Hotel, and thank god that the rain held out until just the right time.  It was a bit touch and go there for a while and the ceremony was going to be inside, outside, inside, outside but Anne Campbell (an amazing celebrant)  called it and she predicted that the weather would hold out until the end of the day.  the reception was in a beautiful marquee which we also got some amazing shots in.

The best part of the evening came around where I got to present a slideshow of the images taken throughout the day and the guests were all blown away.

Sky and Brad were referred to us by the wonderful Bec and Nat Lloyd who featured on the front cover of Ideal Brides Summer edition last year. Most of our regular blog followers would remember them from the various different shoots that they have done over the years.

Poonam & Rishi’s wedding 28th March 2009

Poonam and Rishi had booked with me quite a while ago for their wedding and were very excited about getting married. As Poonam and Rishi both had different cultural backgrounds, there was alot involved with their ceremony. Today would involve them being a part of three different marriage ceremonies, not to mention all the other traditions that would be performed throughout the day.

We started off with Rishi at his parents house, we arrived at the house very early to find everyone abuzz and getting organised. There was just one slight glitch and that was the Rishi himself wasn’t there! He had slept through his and two other alarms after having a rather large social evening the night before. He made it with a few minutes to spare and we quickly got to work getting everything we needed to do before leaving to see Poonam and her family.

When we arrived at Poonam’s family home, there was so much going on. With Indian tradition, celebrations continue for days before the wedding so there was a large marquee in the front yard to house the celebrations. We went upstairs to find the girls hard at work getting Poonam ready, Poonam was bright as a button chirping away. Once we had finished with some family photos, we headed to the ceremony to get ready for the three separate ceremonies which spanned over 4 hrs.

The traditional Hindu ceremony was the best one I have been to, the person conducting the ceremony was wonderful explaining everything that he was about to do in English. Even though the ceremony went for a couple of hours, it didn’t feel like it because we were so intrigued.

The next ceremony was the  Traditional Buddhist Poruwa ceremony and then of course the civil marriage ceremony to make everything legal by Australian Law.

After these marathon events, all the guests were treated to a buffet lunch before we headed off to St Lucia for some bridal party photos. Poonam and Rishi were having their wedding reception at Indooroopilly Golf Club so it was only a short distance to the reception once we had finished at the university.

Jemma & James Wedding 21st March 2009

Jemma and James were married on 21st March 2009 and had originally planned alot of their wedding from oversea’s. Jemma has been a long time follower of our blog, so it was great to finally get to photogaph their wedding.

We started with James and the boys over at James parents house at Clayfield. James mum was very busy making sure everything was just right, whilst the boys were busy cracking jokes and making James laugh constantly.  We then headed over to Paddington to see Jemma and the girls. The house was a buzz, even their dog was dressed for the occasion with beautiful ribbon tied around its neck.

Before we knew it, it was time to head over to Brisbane Grammar School where their ceremony was being held. The Chapel was just beautiful, Justine and I really enjoyed photographing there. We stayed in the grounds for a while taking photos of the bridal party before heading over to New farm for some photos also. The Bridal Party were a great bunch of people, we had so much fun with them. There was never a shortage of laughs.

Now the last photo is one of our silver awards from the recent QLD AIPP awards. Thanks guys for allowing us to take this image of you both!

2009 QLD Emerging Photographer of the year – Congratulations Justine!

Well while I was at the QLD Brides Expo, Justine was off at the QLD Professional Photography awards watching the much anticipated judging of the weddings category. Both Justine and I had prints in the wedding category and were eager to see the prints being judged. We were extremely happy to come home with 6 silver awards between us.

This was justine’s first year as a member of the AIPP and also her first competition that she has entered. Justine has been travelling to many weddings with me and in the last 12 months and has captured some amazing images. She entered 3 images into the awards and all 3 of them scored silver awards. I was extremely proud of her to acheive this in her first year.

It was with great pleasure and excitement last night at the awards dinner held at Victoria Park, that I got to watch Justine be awarded QLD Emerging Photographer of the year 2009. Many of you would know that we have worked extremely hard over the last 18 months to get to where we are and this is something to show that the hard work is paying off.

Justine has had quite a few requests from couples to photograph their weddings in her own right recently and I am trying to convince her to take a step up, so watch this space!

Well done baby,  I am so proud of you!!
