validation: the pursuit of happiness

I came across this little video real from a photographer in the Boston that I admire called Anne Ruthmann,  i have been following her adventures for a few years now and I am always impressed by her emotive images.  The video is about 16 min long but is just a nice little story that spoke to me as a photographer… awww so sweet.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I did,  i am such a softie

Brigitte & Drew’s wedding – 6th March 2009

Brigitte and Drew hired xsight for photography & video for their wedding being held at Sirromet Winery. We started off with the Boys at Drews parents Place at Raby Bay. The boys had been having a great morning swimming along with a beer or two, all were in great spirits and ready for the day that lie ahead. We had a great time taking photos of them before leaving and heading over to see Brigitte and the Girls. Now apprently Brigitte is not the most organised person according to the girls but today was an acception to the rule with Brigitte ready early and relaxed. After some photos with the girls, we moved onto the ceremony at Laguna at Sirromet.

The sun was very bright, not to mention hot but that didnt stop the large number of guests from getting excited when they saw Brigitte pull up ready to walk down the isle. The ceremony went off without a hitch and then we moved around Sirromet for some bridal party photos. Hats off to the groomsmen for being so enthusiastic about these photos, these boys seriously cracked me up. After a quick chat with the bridesmaids, I found out that Brigitte and Drew met at the Gym and it seems to be bit of a tradition. Apparently 4 of their friends have met their parters at this same gym! Maybe I should be finding out the name of this gym for all you single people out there!

We then headed back to their reception where Brigitte and Drew decided they wanted to surprise their guests with a slideshow of their images at their reception. Of course it went down a treat! The best part about being at receptions is seeing people let their hair down and enjoy themselves after such a long day. The thing that interested me about their reception was that they had a lolly buffet for their guests and get this….it was colour coordinated to their theme! There were lollies stretching for what seemed like miles in lots of large glass jars and all the best ones you can think of. If Justine had been around, I can only imagine how obsessed she would have been with it!

Emma & Matt’s Wedding – 7th March 2009

Emma is one of our much loved wedding central forum brides and today was one that her and many of her forum friends had spent many hours discussing. Emma was a very organised bride and had planned everything right down to teaching the boys how to tie their ties before the day!  Matt and I were photographing Emma & Matts wedding, so as Ben said previously is was strange for me also to not be Bens offsider for the day. As soon as we arrived at the Boys hotel, that strange feeling dissappeared as we got straight down to business.

The Boys we full of jokes and laughs, cracking open the Heineken’s whilst we were photographing. The girls were in full swing too over at the Medina where their reception was being held. Emma was very relaxed as the final touches were being done to everyones hair and makeup. Emma reminded me a little of Christina Aguilera today, looking absolutely gorgeous.

By the time Matt and I got to the church, Matt and the boys were waiting anxiously for the girls to arrive. By the time Emma made it to the end of the isle, the look of excitement on Matts face was just priceless. The church was just beautiful, I could have photographed here for hours.

After some family photos, we traveled to the powerhouse for some bridal party photos. After a stop at the Kangaroo Point cliffs, we headed back to the Medina where the bridal party mingled on the Balcony of their apartment, enjoying the view before it was time to enter their reception.

I had an absolute ball working with these guys. Here are a few of my images from the day.

Nicole & Cameron’s wedding – 7th March 2009

Some of you may remember a little while back the post for Nicole and Cameron’s engagement session. Well today was their wedding and I was off without Justine today as she was photographing another wedding. Its pretty rare these days that we dont work together, so I started the day feeling like something was missing. But before long I was off on my normal tangent working up a storm with Cameron and the boys. Nicole and the girls were never short of making me laugh with the banter between each other. Of course they looked absolutely stunning, their dresses being made especially for them.

The ceremony was at Latrobe Chapel, and this would have to be the first time that I have actaully had a ceremony start 15 mins early as Nicole arrived early and was eager to get down the isle to Cameron!

After the ceremony we decided to hit the pub for some chillaxin’ giving the kids the opportunity to mingle together before we headed into southbank for some fun and games. Now considering Nicole is not that keen on having her photo taken, she did a bloody good job! The bridal party were full of laughs and we all had an awesome time.

Now I have to give a shout out to Dell’ Ugo on Grey St & Little Stanley St. This Restuarant is just amazing and I had no idea that they also did weddings. Amazing food, ambience and Soula and her staff are so friendly. If you are looking for somewhere out of the norm for your reception, you have to check these guys out!

I dont normally post this many images but this wedding officially kicked off the wedding season for me, so I thought I would celebrate.

Regards

Ben

Ideal Bride Expo Fashion Parade

As we mentioned in an earlier post, we had a stand at the Ideal Bride Wedding Expo at the RNA showgrounds recently. We were also the offical photographers for the Fashion Parade. I fell in love with one designers gowns, her name is Anna Cambell www.annacampbell.com.au . Anna is a Melbourne designer but stocks her gowns in Fortitude Valley at  Hoe’ Boutique – Owned by Vanessa Hoe, creator of Always Habit . The hunky male models were wearing clothing from Always Habit, definately a clothing line worth checking out boys! (Check out the last 2 photos for these designers)

Enjoy!!
